The Junior Darts Corporation (JDC) Academies provide young players with the opportunity to learn, develop and improve their darts skills in a fun, structured and supportive environment.
Open to players of different abilities, the academies help youngsters develop their throwing technique, scoring, maths skills, confidence and sportsmanship, while enjoying the opportunity to compete and make new friends.
The JDC uses a colour medal system to recognise players' progress and development. Players work through different coloured levels, earning medals as they demonstrate improvements in their darts ability and complete the relevant challenges.
The medal system gives every player something to work towards, whatever their starting ability, and allows them to see how much they are progressing.
The academy year is split into seasons, giving players regular opportunities to develop their skills, work towards their next medal and take part in organised activities and competitions.
Each season provides a fresh opportunity to set goals, improve and celebrate achievements. The aim is to help every young player enjoy their darts journey and reach their full potential.

Players complete a structured JDC Challenge routine during their weekly academy sessions. Their scores are recorded and contribute towards their overall grading.
At the end of each 8-week season, their average score determines which coloured medal they achieve. The higher the score, the higher the medal grade.
Medal colour (average score)
White 0–149
Purple 150–299
Yellow 300–449
Green 450–599
Blue 600–699
Red 700–849
Black 850–1,249
Gold 1,250+
Players can progress through the colours as their ability improves. It's not just about winning matches – it's about personal development, consistency and improving their own scores.
There are six seasons throughout the year, each lasting eight weeks. Players take part in weekly challenges, with their scores contributing towards the JDC Academy rankings and Order of Merit.
Different seasons also provide qualification opportunities for major JDC events, including the World Championship, Super 16 and Winmau Junior World Masters.
